Investigation sequences in dynamic geometry for a GeT course: the case of similarity
Summary: In this talk, I will describe a sequence of investigative activities in dynamic geometry (Geometer’s Sketchpad) developed and enacted in a Geometry course. The specific example of investigative sequence will focus on similarity theorems from Euclidean geometry perspective. While all students can benefit learning Geometry from inquiry-based perspective, this approach may be particularly appropriate for prospective teachers, for whom it can serve as a model and inspiration for their future classrooms.

Orly Buchbinder is an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), where she teachers variety of courses in both mathematics and mathematics educations. Her research agenda is focused teaching and learning of reasoning and proving at the secondary level. In particular, supporting current and prospective secondary teachers to teach mathematics via reasoning and proving.
