Secondary Geometry for Mathematicians and Educators

Summary: The recently-published Secondary Mathematics for Mathematicians and Educators offers a high-level view of the secondary curriculum suitable not only for preservice teachers at the end of their undergraduate studies but also for Mathematics and Math Ed graduate students with an interest in the connections between topics in advanced-level mathematics and the content of the secondary curriculum.  Michael will discuss the Geometry content of the book and how it connects not only to the secondary Geometry course but also to other topics within secondary mathematics.

Michael Weiss

Michael Weiss is a Lecturer in the University of Michigan Department of Mathematics who formerly served on the faculties of both Oakland University and Michigan State University.  An alumnus of the University of Michigan, his research focuses on the ways in which the practices of high school mathematics can (and cannot) cultivate elements of a mathematical sensibility.
